THE BRIEF
Wild Country is one of the world's iconic climbing hardware brands based in the heart of one of the United Kingdom's most famous climbing areas: the Peak District. Wild Country transformed the face of rock climbing in 1977 through the introduction of 'The Friend' and since then have continually innovated to provide solutions to the many challenges that climbing presents.
Band of Birds began working with Wild Country in Spring 2016 and were tasked with supporting raising the profile of the brand as well as their new range of products for 2016/17 - specifically their new belay device which continues their rich history of innovation: the REVO.
OUR SOLUTION
- Band of Birds have worked with Wild Country to produce a social media strategy which helps to engage with their core audience as well as communicating the core values of the company.
- We successfully organised the press launch of the REVO belay device in May 2016 and supported Wild Country at Outdoor 2016 to secure press profile of the new product and raise brand awareness amongst new audiences.
- Throughout the year, we have worked closely with outdoor photographers and film makers to brief them on commissions for Wild Country to ensure the output matches the brand and also will produce content that will engage with Wild Country's core audience.
- We successfully covered Wild Country's sponsorship of the Arco Rockmasters, one of Europe's oldest and most famous climbing competitions.
- We have brokered relationships with major European trade media outlets to secure effective promotion and coverage of Wild Country's products and marketing campaigns.
- Throughout our activity with the brand, we have supported them with data-driven decision making and highlighting industry best practice.
IMPACT
- We have successfully secured positive press coverage for the REVO belay device across trade media outlets across Europe.
- We have grown and nurtured a strong engaged community of followers across all social channels. For example, in under a year on Instagram, we have grown the channels audience by 160% and increased the average likes per post by 170%.
- We have successfully briefed and commissioned several successful shoots for the brand working with some of the leading outdoor photographers and film makers to capture the values of the brand which has engaged with audiences across the world.
